iPhone 3G - Priced like crazy

iPhone 3G, the second model of iPhone and first official iPhone for India will soon be launched in India. Everyone expected iPhone to be in a reasonable price range of 7,000-10,000 INR, but Airtel, the company bringing iPhone to India had some different plans which will soon introduce it with a price tag of INR 31,000 for 8 GB model and INR 36,100 for 16 GB model.
Booking for iPhone started a long time ago and as per some statements from some Airtel representatives, it is said that Airtel has received a good amount of booking for this highly-overpriced-handset.
iPhone 3G, the latest iPhone model is being sold at a price of $199 in United States, while the same handset is being sold for nearly $800 - $900 in India. All functions and accessories are same and there is nothing extra with the handset.
As per some other reports, it is also said that this price tag is just a hype for now. It will soon come down to an affordable price range. I think till then we need to look for an alternative rightly-priced handset till the price hype comes down.

Airtel is the one who have set up this price and I don’t think that they are going to decrease the price any time soon. I think it may take even around 1 year to see the price drop to half of what it is right now but still i think if this happens then it is worth the wait.

I think my wait for my own iPhone is not yet complete even though it had been officially been launched in India. I think Apple or Airtel, who ever have set the price have just targeted riches in India.
I am still looking forward for iPhone prices to drop near 10-12,000 INR price range so that i can afford to buy this awesome phone.
